Safiya Durning was born on the upper west side in Manhattan. While attending high school, she developed a keen interest in fashion and modeling. From age 12-14 she worked with various designers and casting agents as an intern . She moved to St.Croix, US Virgin Islands to finish high school but continued to freelance her own creative work. During this time, she placed third in the 2016 "VI Model of the Year" contest. Now she is living in Harlem and has been featured in Puss Puss Magazine (cast by Barbara Pfister) and has worked with various photographers including Ob Photographs, Damon Omen and Louis Seigal. She will be pursuing an acting career alongside modeling while she begins fall classes as a student at FIT.
